The LM2596S series of regulators are monolithic integrated circuits that provide all the active functions for a step-down (buck) switching regulator, capable of driving a 3A load with excellent line and load regulation. Key Features: - Fixed 5V output, 3A load capability - Input voltage: 8V to 40V - Switching frequency: 150 kHz - Efficiency up to 77% (5V from 12V @ 3A) - Internal 52kHz oscillator - Requires minimal external components (inductor + 2 capacitors + 1 diode) - Over-temperature and current limiting protection - TO-263 (D2PAK) surface mount package
